Empowering Boys Ages 6–18 Through Mentorship, Education, and Sports
At The Protégé Project, our program is designed to inspire growth, create opportunity, and foster lifelong success for boys ages 6–18 across Washington, DC. We combine mentorship, academic support, and recreational sports to form a powerful foundation for youth development—right in their own neighborhoods.
Our year-round program is hosted at North Michigan Park Recreation Center and is intentionally crafted to support boys in every stage of development from elementary through high school.

- Days: Monday–Friday
- Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Location: North Michigan Park Rec Center
- Cost: Free to all participants
- Open To: Boys ages 6–18 attending school in DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the program really free? Yes. Thanks to our partners and donors, The Protégé Project is 100% free for all participants. This includes all academic materials, sports equipment used during sessions, and enrichment activities.
- Who can join the program? The program is open to boys ages 6 to 18 who are currently enrolled in school. While we are based at the North Michigan Park Rec Center in DC, we welcome students from Maryland and Northern Virginia as well.
- How do I register my son? Registration can be completed online through our website or in person at the North Michigan Park Recreation Center. Since we maintain a low mentor-to-youth ratio to ensure quality, we recommend signing up as early as possible.
- What should my son bring each day? Participants should come with their school homework or study materials and comfortable athletic clothing/shoes for the sports portion of the afternoon. We provide all other necessary equipment.
